  The group has run a number of Wordfests which anyone is able to attend to hear talented performers not only from VRWG but from other local societies such as Liverpool's Dead Good Poets. In addition to the featured poets and authors we also run a number of open mic slots. Details of Wordfest dates will appear here.

News & Events

Writing Workshops
From time to time VRWG will entice a tame poet or author to come along to run a workshop. Where capacity permits these events are opened up to non-members. Watch this space for advance notification of future workshops, and if there is something you are particularly keen to see then just let us know.

Each year in May and October we run workshops at Gladstone's Library in Hawarden. These are organised by members for members and are always great fun and very productive. See the calendar for the dates of this year's workshops.

Welcome to VRWG's Website!

It's really nice of you to drop by and we hope you find what you are looking for in these pages! This website is constantly evolving (albeit at a very slow pace) so please be sure to check back from time to time. If you are thinking about becoming a member then you will find everything you need to know in the sections below. If you are interested in events and news then the main items will appear on this page with additional information in the blog and on our Facebook page.

What We Do

Really the name says it all. We are a group of writers and would-be writers who meet at 7.30 pm in the Blue Cap Hotel once each month. We no longer have our regular first Monday so please consult the calendar for meeting dates. Meetings typically involve a writing exercise, the sharing of news and encouragement, and readings by members - optionally with feedback. We have poets and novelists and short story writers, and all genres are accommodated. If you are interested in writing you will be made very welcome.

Joining VRWG

If you are interested in joining VRWG then the best thing to do is just to come along to a couple of meetings. For the cost of a drink you can see if the group is right for you. If you do decide to join the membership fee is currently only £15 a year so it won't break the bank.
